Graduate Security Consultant
From helping shape entire cities to adapting infrastructure to deal with the climate emergency, a career at Buro Happold presents the chance to make a difference. This opportunity is to join our Security & Public Safety team in London.
What is Security Design?
Our experience and position across defence and security, information technology and the construction industries uniquely qualifies us to offer services uncommon to traditional security and technology consultants. Our clients can benefit from bespoke strategies, followed by engineered solutions that holistically consider risk, operational requirements, the business case for technology investment and the wider architectural vision. By engaging in leading research and development, we navigate and influence industry and the regulatory and statutory landscape. We consider a project's key threats and critical dependencies from the outset, allowing us to design in 'real world' mitigation strategies that remain flexible to a changing threat landscape, whilst maintaining a project's aesthetic and aspirations. We develop strategies that provide the right mitigation without placing obtrusive and unfriendly measures that could detract from the look of a building.
Digital technology continues to advance at pace. Pair this with the world's constantly evolving security risks, and you want to be certain your built environment is safe.
What sort of projects would I work on?
The International Quarter (Tiq), London
Located in the south east corner of the London 2012 Olympic site, TIQ Residential occupies a prime position within the masterplan for the regeneration of the area holding a project value of around £70million. The Buro Happold Engineering team has been appointed to work on two new buildings in this development, comprising 30 and 18 storeys respectively. These will house ultra-efficient residential accommodation that provides high level, sustainable urban living designed to meet both current and future needs of the growing local community.
Elephant Park, London
Located in London's Elephant and Castle, this project features a new high-end residential development and the largest park created in the city for 70 years. The development will create almost 3,000 new homes on the site of the former Heygate estate, as well as the new public realm that will provide open, green space for residents and visitors. This verdant new residential quarter is redefining 21st century city living.
