About the Role
Barton Moss is a twenty-seven bed Secure Care Centre located in Eccles on the outskirts of Salford in Greater Manchester within easy reach of the M60 and wider motorway network. We care for remanded and sentenced young males under the age of 18 years.
The centre has a proven track record of offering a very high standard of emotional, educational and physical care. This supports young people to succeed in their personal and academic development and return to their community. Our school offers a curriculum based on core and vocational subjects and seeks to ensure pupils receive externally accredited qualifications.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, committed education professional. This person will be seeking a rewarding career in making a real contribution to the holistic educational development of young males within secure care in Salford.
In this role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant, the successful candidate will help to drive and support the educational attainment and progress of all learners in English.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* have a passion for teaching and a commitment to achieving positive learning outcomes for children and young people who can demonstrate complex needs
* have good subject knowledge in English
* be flexible and enthusiastic about a multi-agency working approach
* have interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to inspire children and young people
* value, and contribute to, the distinctive ethos of the centre
* demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that children and young people make rapid educational progress in a supportive and caring environment

The centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. These posts are subject to a fully-enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month.
