JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Light Plant Driver fly tipping Directorate: Neighbourhood services Section: Planning, Transport and Environment. Reporting to: Senior Education and Enforcement Officer Grade: 4 Hours per Week: 37 Post Number 50071916 Number of Employees Reporting to Post: 1 Special Conditions: Working from a number of locations which could include afternoon working. Some overtime on weekends and Public Holidays. Location of Post: Lamby Way Duties and Responsibilities Job Specific 1. Safe operation of a light plant vehicle. Ensuring compliance with legislation and Tachograph requirements. 2. Ensure safe distribution and loading of vehicle to be compliant with weight / load per vehicle assigned. 3. Ensuring vehicles and equipment used are maintained and accounted for, using the relevant Council Policies and procedures. This will include completing Drivers daily return forms and any other paperwork required. 4. Reporting to management and dealing with members of the public, maintaining a high level of customer service. 5. Taking reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others, including compliance with H&S Policy and procedures, reporting any accidents, near misses or any hazardous waste issues and completing associated paperwork. 6. Removal of fly tipping reported or witnessed, using methods and systems of work provided by management. 7. Ensuring accurate note taking of fly tipped items in accordance with waste data flow requirements. 8. Carry out alternative duties as required in relation to inclement weather to include snow clearance and highway gritting / salting. Other duties 1. Will be authorised to conduct investigations that lead to enforcement activity. Work alongside waste enforcement officers to aid them to progress any cases that could lead to enforcement action. 2. Required to complete submission of notes digitally onto document management system and take photographic evidence – before and after photos, and photographic evidence of any evidence gathered to progress to fly tipping investigations, co-ordinates for hotspot locations. 3. Monitoring locations under direct surveillance 4. In cab technology – scheduling of work and data entries to comply with waste data flow submissions. Special Conditions 1. The post involves working outdoors in all weather conditions. Post holder will be required to undertake duties in all areas of the city as required. 2. Post holder will be trained as a lorry loader for crane vehicle. The training provides full theoretical and practical instruction, and practical and written assessments. Certification is valid for five years after which time refresher training will need to be undertaken. Corporate Requirements 1.
