Job summary
Kingston Hospital Estates are recruiting Maintenance Assistants to join our in-house team, to deliver a range of planned and reactive work.
To assist with the effective delivery of both planned & reactive maintenance to a high standard on all plant, engineering systems, building structures and services within the Hospital and associated buildings.
You will need to provide an excellent level of customer care, communication and flexibility when completing work which supports the Trusts Clinical services and patient care.
Main duties of the job
To work as a flexible member of the Trust's Maintenance Team, largely in an unsupervised capacity. To undertake semi-skilled electrical maintenance repairs replacing lamps, changing ballasts, limited lighting repairs, basic fault finding on nurse call systems, nurse call handset repairs, replacing pull cords, assist with lift entrapment and release
To undertake semi-skilled electrical planned preventative maintenance fire alarm testing, testing emergency generators
To undertake semi-skilled plumbing maintenance repairs unblocking of drains, sluices and macerators, rewashering of taps, assist with isolation and capping off of radiators, assist with the installation of replacement radiators, assist with changing thermostatic radiator valves, replacement of toilet seats.
To undertake semi-skilled plumbing planned preventative maintenance meter readings (gas, electricity and water), changing filters on ventilation plant, descale shower heads, Legionella management tasks
To undertake minor building trade repairs replacing mastic to sinks and basins, changing codes to digital locks, adjusting window catches, assembling furniture, fitting blinds, changing fire extinguishers and fixing fire extinguisher brackets, erecting notice boards, towel holders and toilet roll holders.
To ensure the Maintenance Department yard and Plant rooms are kept tidy.

Kingston Hospital Estates are recruiting Maintenance Assistances to join our in-house team to deliver a range of planned and reactive work. You will work alongside highly skilled and experienced estates team to maintain a quality environment for our patients and colleagues. In addition, you will have the benefit of working on our four days on and four days off rota which will gives you an extra twelve rest days every eight weeks when compared to a normal Monday to Friday rota and will be paid enhanced hourly rates at weekends.

Essential
1. To be able to demonstrate competence and continued training in a range of relevant technical skills
2. NVQ 2 in electrical or mechanical maintenance or equivalent

4. Minimum of 1 years' experience in building services maintenance
5. Previous appropriate working experience or training in skill development including the safe use of tools and equipment
