Position: Hardware Product Manager
Location: Kent (Hybrid: Minimum one day in the office per week)
Salary: £60,000–£70,000 per annum
Travel: Minimum two months per year travel overseas, with occasional trips to the EU for user research

Role Overview
As a Hardware Product Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of EV charging technology. You will lead hardware product development, ensuring competitiveness, compliance, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet evolving market demands. This role requires occasional international travel, including extended trips overseas and periodic travel across the EU to engage with customers, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
Market and Regulatory Research
* Conduct research on global EV charging trends, focusing on UK and EU markets to ensure product competitiveness.
* Engage with regulatory bodies (e.g., IEC, IET) to interpret and integrate UK and EU-specific standards into product requirements.
* Represent the company in trade associations such as BEAMA, OCA, and CharIN to stay updated on industry standards and influence decision-making.
* Collaborate with B2B customers and users to identify key hardware product improvements.
Product Requirement Development
* Define overarching hardware requirements based on market trends and regulations in the UK and EU to guide customer-specific ODM projects for AC and DC chargers.
Technical Oversight
* Review hardware designs to ensure reliability, safety, compliance, and cybersecurity while keeping the product cost competitive.
* Focus on improving product reliability and maximizing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) through robust component selection, testing standards, and design optimisations.
* Ensure hardware components meet performance benchmarks and adhere to UK and EU compliance standards.
Cross-functional Collaboration
* Coordinate with software product managers to align hardware designs with IoT functionality and connectivity protocols tailored to the UK and EU.
* Support sales and project teams with technical insights to address customer requirements effectively.
Innovation and Advocacy
* Propose hardware innovations for both AC and DC chargers to meet evolving market needs, regulatory updates, and customer expectations in the UK and EU.
* Champion design practices and testing methodologies that enhance long-term product reliability and performance.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in hardware product management, electronics design, or a related role within the EV charging or electronics sector.
* Familiarity with UK and EU compliance standards (e.g., IEC, IET) is desirable.
* Experience working with different cultures is a strong plus.
