As a Board member, you'll play a key role in helping the REC achieve its vision of being the voice of a professional, ethical, and successful recruitment sector. How you'll make an impact We are seeking three new independent Non-Executive Directors to bring fresh perspectives and essential expertise to the Board. As a Non-Executive Director, you will: Provide strategic oversight and guidance, contributing to high-level decision-making. Act as a critical friend to the Executive Team, offering challenge, advice, and support. Champion the REC's values and mission, helping the organisation drive its goals forward. Be an active participant in Board and Away-Day meetings, contributing to discussions with a solutions-focused and forward-thinking approach. The role requires a commitment of approximately six days per year for Board meetings in London, plus time for preparation and ad-hoc discussions with the Executive Team. The term of office is 3 years, up to a maximum of 6 years. Travel and reasonable expenses will be covered. Why we're excited about you The REC is looking for individuals with a passion for strategic thinking, governance, and driving organisational success. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in any the following areas: Finance: Robust financial oversight, with a deep understanding of P&L, cashflow, forecasting, investment appraisals, financial controls and risk management. Technology/Digital: Knowledge of IT systems, CRMs, data integration, and digital transformation. Understanding of APIs, data architecture, and frictionless user journeys is highly desirable. People/HR: Strategic HR experience, with a focus on leadership development, organisational culture, ED&I, and workforce performance. In addition to these specific skill sets, all candidates should bring: A proven ability to think strategically and contribute to ‘big picture' horizon scanning. An entrepreneurial spirit with an understanding of a fast-paced SME like the REC. Excellent emotional intelligence and the ability to challenge constructively at board level. A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to the REC's mission. Experience working in complex organisations with a mature corporate structure. A deep understanding of the importance of governance and risk mitigation. A proven track record as a Board advisor (ie NED, Trustee).
