About the Role:
Edgar Wood Academy is seeking a skilled and motivated Teacher of Science to join our dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity to play a pivotal role in raising standards of student attainment and teaching quality within the Science Department. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and be passionate about supporting students to achieve their fullest potential.
37 hours per week, term-time only.
Key Focus:
* Support the Head of Science in maximising students’ academic development by taking responsibility for interventions.
* Drive high standards of teaching and learning across the department through collaboration, strategic planning, and data analysis.
Primary Purpose:
* Help students realise their academic potential through an unrelenting focus on quality teaching and student support.
* Foster a "can-do" culture that motivates and inspires students to aim high and achieve their goals.
* Embrace flexibility and contribute to the school’s growth and overall development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Demonstrate effective teaching practice within the subject area.
* Keep the Headteacher informed of all issues concerning the Science Department via the Head of Science
* Enhance and contribute to the development of formative and summative assessments.
* Support the moderation and standardisation of assessments.
* Promote outstanding practice and ensure the department is up to date with national teaching developments.
* Foster high expectations and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
* Collaborate with the Pastoral Team to support student well-being and remove barriers to learning.
* Be accountable for tracking and improving student progress and achievement.
* Ensure assessment and feedback align with school policies and support student development.
* Provide regular updates on student progress through reports and parent meetings.
