We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a Band 6 Nurse to join our rapidly expanding and dynamic Clinical Research Team on the NIHR/Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility. In this role you will have the opportunity to maintain and develop all of your existing clinical skills within a research environment where you will be delivering the administration of investigational medicinal products, taking part in translational research and developing the set-up of new trials. With a focus upon working with the oncology portfolio, which continues to expand and currently consists of cancer vaccines and other experimental treatments.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
As a Band 6 Nurse on our Research Facility you will have the opportunity to work in a nurse-led environment and be expected to manage and lead on your own caseload of research projects. You will have the opportunity to maintain and develop existing clinical skills, such as but not limited to, phlebotomy, intravenous therapy, cannulation and central access devices. You will also be given the opportunity to develop new exciting skills such as administration of cytotoxic agents, working within our state of the art endoscopy suite and laboratory skills such as centrifugation and sample processing. You will be working closely with Senior Clinicians and other Multi-disciplinary team members to implement and set up the delivery of trial protocols ensuring the highest quality of data collection, with a continued commitment to participant safety and welfare.

* Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register
* Oncology setting experience

* Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / oncology NHS /care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
* Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
* Can demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
* Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
* Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
* Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
* Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
* Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
