We are seeking professionals with degree qualifications & teaching-related experience working in a classroom setting, to provide in-class supervision during periods of teacher absences in our Senior School, working on a flexible / ad hoc basis. This is a supply role with a zero hour contract.
The Supply Cover Supervisor is appointed when regular teachers are away, usually for periods of short-term absence, however it may also included longer periods if required. This is not a teaching role. The Supply Cover Supervisor carries out prepared classroom activities and exercises set by the regular teacher, and performs other teaching-related duties required by the senior school leadership team.
Applicants must have relevant experience of working in a classroom in an education setting, with the ability to provide calm, confident leadership when managing and guiding student groups. Experience will ideally include working with teens and/or young adults. Possible backgrounds may include teacher, tutor, teaching assistant, learning support, or similar. Availability to work for the school, sometimes at short notice, will be required.
IMPORTANT: Applicants should already be resident and have the legal ability to work in The Netherlands. Applications that do not meet this criteria will not be considered.
Main purpose of the role:

* Manage a classroom, ensuring a safe and secure environment and that pupils remain on task with the work they have been set
* To flexibly provide administration and support in other areas where cover capacity allows
Duties include:
* Supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on planned or unplanned absence
* Manage a classroom, ensuring a safe and secure environment and that pupils remain on task with the work they have been set
* Provide administration and support in other areas where cover capacity allows
* To be solely responsible for a class of pupils in the absence of the Teacher, ensuring they are engaged in learning activities pre-set by the Teacher
* Managing the behaviour of pupils while they undertake pre-set school work, ensuring a calm and constructive classroom environment is maintained
* Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedure
* Dealing with immediate problems or emergencies, as required
* Liaising with teachers or other staff regarding work set for a class, to effectively supervise the lesson
* Collecting any completed work and returning to the appropriate teacher or subject leader
* Reporting on behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising, using the school's agreed referral procedures
* Taking registers of pupils in attendance
* Supervision of pupils during breaks and at lunchtimes, as required
* Supporting the work of classroom teachers or general school administration when not actively deployed to cover a class
* Supporting/contributing to the development of an ''activity bank'' of resources
* Supporting/contributing to the creation and maintenance of classroom displays
* Invigilating internal / external examinations, as requested
* Acting as First Aider as required (training provided and extra allowance payable)
* Undertaking other tasks/duties as directed, commensurate with the responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor
Preferred qualifications, skills & experience:
* University degree or post-graduate qualifications
* Experience working in classroom setting in a school environment
* Experience of the British curriculum, or similar, or an international school environment
* Relevant experience working/interacting with students aged 12-18
* Excellent English language skills (verbal & written)
* Effective communication & interpersonal skills
* Strong organisation skills
* Leadership skills
* IT skills
