Are you a driven, detail-oriented engineer with a scientific background and a passion for testing and compliance? KO2's client is seeking a Laboratory Lead Development Engineer to join their team in Stafford. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic lab environment, creating, running, and refining tests that will improve performance and product efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development of Tests: You will be responsible for developing structured test methodologies, including testing with unusual contaminants, to ensure performance standards are met.
Test Execution: Run and evaluate tests designed to measure performance and chemical efficiency, including tests for chemical-assisted procedures
Laboratory Setup: You will establish and maintain a small lab facility, creating the right environment for high-level testing and experiments.
Scientific Testing & Evaluation: Use your expertise to assess the effects of temperature, chemicals, and detergents on performance and energy consumption. You will monitor and report on the life of the machines, testing how different temperatures and chemical treatments can extend the lifespan and optimize the process.
Standards Compliance: Ensure that all tests align with relevant standards, providing accurate data and avoiding misleading information. This includes working with and interpreting testing and compliance standards.
Collaboration & Reporting: Although the role involves significant independent work, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to share results, offer recommendations, and refine testing protocols.Skills and Experience:
Scientific or Chemical Background: A strong foundation in chemistry, particularly with knowledge of starches and chemical reactions, is essential. Experience with the design of experiments will be highly beneficial.
Testing and Compliance Experience: Prior experience in testing and working with compliance standards, ideally within a laboratory or engineering environment.
Understanding of Chemical Processes: You should have a thorough understanding of chemicals, and how these interact with different materials and contaminants.
Experience with Water Quality: Previous experience working in water quality, medical devices, or related fields will be an advantage.
Independent Work: You should be comfortable working autonomously, taking full responsibility for your tests and the quality of the data you produce.
Problem Solving & Methodology: The role requires a critical approach to designing experiments, mixing contaminants, baking in ovens, and developing new methodologies to improve performance.Desirable Qualifications:
A degree or equivalent in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering).
Experience in laboratory management or leading small teams in a scientific testing environment.
Familiarity with monitoring energy, chemical usage, and machine life-cycle management.Why Join?
