Candidate Profile
We are looking for a dynamic, strong, and inspirational teacher of Art and Art History to join an exciting school-wide Art Department. The successful candidate will be adaptable and creative, with a proven ability to motivate students and to work in partnership with other faculty members.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Deliver Art and Art History lessons (including AP Art History) to mixed ability classes, no larger than 16 students per class and five-fifths of teaching;
2. Differentiate tasks and work to suit the needs of individual students;
3. Collaborate with other Upper School teachers in the department;
4. Plan, prepare, set class and homework assignments and tests;
5. Act pastorally in an advisory capacity to a group of about 6 - 8 students, usually of the same grade;
6. Attend departments meetings, student meetings, faculty meetings and parent/teacher conferences;
7. Participate in Curriculum Development, Professional Development and Safeguarding meetings;
8. Calculate and assign grades and written comments for students;
9. Supervise 1 study hall or lunch-time supervision across campus per week;
10. Supervise an after school extra-curricular activity two days per week;
11. Follow the TASIS England Professional Teaching Standards;
Skills:
1. Ability to teach in traditional and in new media, including digital SLR photography and Adobe Suite.
2. Ability to manage students firmly, fairly and effectively.
3. Ability to work as a team member and to form good working relationships with colleagues. Willing to work collaboratively with colleagues and to team teach courses.
4. Organized and able to meet deadlines and show good attention to detail.
5. Strong knowledge of historical and contemporary issues in art theory and practice.
6. Experience and expertise in writing student report comments.
7. Excellent classroom practice and planning skills.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in an art related subject.
