The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the process optimisation of technical manufacturing operations, process change management, 5S, standard work instruction creation, auditing, and capacity planning of value streams. The qualified candidate will have manufacturing process improvement experience and a thorough understanding of fundamental lean manufacturing principles.
Main Responsibilities:
* Report key metrics for the department dashboard and undertake improvement initiatives to enhance department performance.
* Guide Manufacturing Engineers in their areas of responsibility.
* Support factory projects and assist in resource coordination.
* Develop and deploy manufacturing processes through professional Manufacturing Engineering techniques.
* Deploy new products within the Dundee Manufacturing Centre, ensuring design for manufacturing (DFM) issues are addressed.
* Contribute to cross-functional teams to improve time to market and maintain production capability.
* Work with the Operations team to make operational adjustments for productivity and efficiency growth.
* Plan and implement plant layouts and production equipment for maximum utilisation.
* Apply lean principles to optimise work/process flow and reduce product changeover times.
* Investigate and implement new technologies to digitalise and automate manufacturing.
* Document standard work, including work instructions, cycle times, and value stream mapping.
* Initiate and lead Kaizen events and manufacturing improvement projects.
* Author formal requests for capital expenditures.
* Positively influence personnel during process changes and manage that change effectively.
* Attain competence as Operations Lead on large-scale projects, representing production requirements.
* Be knowledgeable across all areas of manufacturing.
Essential Qualifications:
* Qualifications in an Engineering and/or manufacturing discipline.
* Experience in Project Management (ideally a qualification).
* Leadership qualities with effective communication skills.
* Ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Experience with the introduction of new products in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills and Competencies (desirable):
* Interpretation of engineering drawings.
* Previous use of problem-solving tools, such as 5 Why and A3.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
