The role: As a Future Submarine Senior Combat Systems Engineer, you’ll focus on the future support requirements of the Royal Navy's next generation combat systems, ensuring Babcock applies its unrivalled in-service support experience to new designs and prepares its capabilities for the ever-increasing complexity of these systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide proactive technical support to our customer, working collaboratively with other stakeholders across Babcock, the MoD, Royal Navy, and industry.
* Provide submarine combat system advice to enable and influence effective submarine capability beyond the original design life.
* Ensure the accuracy of outputs, from understanding requirements to ensuring appropriate review and acceptance, using domain knowledge to influence the design of future submarines.
* Maximise ease of support in service and integration activities.
* Communicate effectively within the submarine combat system enterprise to a wide variety of stakeholders.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience:
* Experience of submarine combat systems from an operational engineering perspective, with Astute Class and Vanguard Class submarine combat system knowledge being highly desirable.
* Experience and knowledge of working within an engineering lifecycle role within the submarine support enterprise.
* Experience and knowledge of the MoD organisation and procurement processes.
* Experience and knowledge of the submarine build and transition into service process.
* Experience of working in a regulated industry with a wide and diverse stakeholder group.
Qualifications:
* Degree qualified in a relevant engineering-based discipline or HND with significant demonstrable experience.
* Member of relevant professional engineering bodies or in the process of applying.
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
