Key Responsibilities:
The role is based at the South Molton site, part of their Fuel and Motion Control Systems division. You will be responsible for managing a manufacturing cell, focused factory, or work centre, leading the team to meet production schedules, maintain product quality, manage costs, and ensure employee safety.
Main Duties:
Lead Manufacturing Activities: Oversee all production operations, ensuring customer requirements are met.
Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators, making adjustments to achieve schedule, cost, and quality targets.
Ensure Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation and ensure system transactions meet customer, manufacturing, and financial requirements.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance quality, productivity, and on-time delivery performance.
Support Product Design: Collaborate with product design teams during new product introductions to ensure manufacturing delivery timelines are met.
Ensure Safety & Compliance: Address environmental, health, and safety issues in line with local regulations and organizational policies.
Team Leadership: Evaluate team performance, manage promotions, job transfers, commendations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
Budget Management: Develop and monitor budgets and resources to meet product delivery and cost objectives.
Business Initiatives: Collaborate with business initiatives and participate in cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
Implement Business System Tools: Lead the team in deploying lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement tools to achieve strategic plant goals.
Quality Systems Compliance: Ensure operations adhere to quality system requirements and pursue opportunities for improvement.
Root Cause Analysis: Identify root causes of scrap and rework, implementing permanent corrective actions to reduce waste.
Qualifications:
Leadership Experience: Senior-level professional experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Materials Planning Systems: In-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and order generation logic.
Supply Chain Expertise: Understanding of production planning, scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving.
Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma: Knowledge of process variation reduction and lean manufacturing tools.
Manufacturing Processes: Expertise in manufacturing technologies and processes.
Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial concepts to evaluate operational changes and their impact on the business.
Cross-functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to drive process improvements.
