Our in-house teams include civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical, and process engineers who design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and provide expert advice for Murphy colleagues and external customers.
About the Role
Permanent Works Design Engineer
This role represents an exciting opportunity to work as part of our experienced Permanent Works Design Team within Murphy Applied Engineering. You will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality permanent works designs for various projects, collaborating with project teams, and contributing to the development of our engineering services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Represent the MAE team in collaborative project meetings.
* Carry out civil/structural designs using relevant software and design standards.
* Undertake site visits when necessary.
* Collate feedback on solutions and contribute to lessons learned meetings.
* Prepare fully integrated permanent works proposals/solutions to meet company requirements.
* Mentor junior staff and graduates within MAE.
Requirements
* HND/Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
* Proficiency in concrete and steelwork design using software and by hand, adhering to relevant design standards and Eurocodes.
* Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills with a desire to develop relationships across the company.
* An open-minded approach to solving civil and structural engineering challenges.
* Willingness to visit company sites and offices.
* Working towards chartership with ICE/IStructE.
