Entry Criteria for Specialty Doctor
A doctor appointed to this grade:
1. shall have a full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC)
2. shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT);
3. shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.
Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, part time (20 hours per week) post based in St John’s Hospital.
This post would initially have a job plan of 5 PAs in total. This would be expected to be fully negotiable to fulfil individual development plans and to satisfy individual specialist interests.
Clinical:
* 4.5 DCC PAs total
* 1 in 5 weekends (alternating shift times)
Provide high quality care to patients:
* Maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice
* Develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties of the post
* Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views
Research, Teaching and Training:
* Where possible to collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance NHS Lothian’s research portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance
* To provide high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions as required by the Clinical Director
Medical Staff Management:
* To work with colleagues to ensure junior doctors’ hours are compliant in line with EWTD and New Deal
* To participate in team objective setting as part of the annual job planning process
