About the project
CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. CMDP+ have secured a new AMP8 Capital Programme. The Strategic Delivery Partner Framework Agreement with Southern Water for Water supply and wastewater treatment work in the eastern half of its region (Kent & Sussex). This represents continuation of the successful joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. Between 2025-2030 CMDP+ will deliver critical investment to Water and Wastewater infrastructure across the region including upgrades to Water and Wastewater Treatment Works, Pumping Stations and Reservoirs.
Purpose of the role
To assist and enable the transformation of the business to meet the productivity challenges of the future through the use of technology. We have an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to help shape our future. The Digital Engineering capability is a key part of our corporate and design strategies. As a Graduate Digital Engineer, you will support the growing transformation of the business by cultivating a culture of improving productivity through technology-centred improvements to our services and teams. With a focus on creating interfaces between projects and the in-house engineering team, growing existing contracts as well as unlocking opportunities with existing and new clients. The role will involve development and implementation of digital engineering capabilities, both internally to Costain and for meeting our client’s needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Embody a 'Digital by Default' culture making all Costain people and partners aware of the productivity we can gain through the use of digital processes and technologies.
2. Assist in the accelerated adoption of digital processes and technologies and evolving delivery models.
3. Deliver improved data quality along with associated efficiencies and outcomes to the business.
4. Champion opportunities presented by digital engineering.
5. Encourage our teams to automate their workflows, and at the same time create new data-related digital solutions.
6. Lead the development of products that are designed to bring a digital culture to the centre of everything that we do.
7. Work with the innovators within the business, supporting them to find a path to achieve their goals and create value from their ideas.
8. Support and deliver digital engineering and innovation projects including Scope, funding, quality, cost and schedule.
9. Establish and develop an agile approach to innovation projects supporting the delivery of consultancy and complex delivery capabilities.
10. Be aware of project budgets, deliverables and relationships in the digital engineering and innovation activities.
11. Engage with Costain’s clients, supply chain and innovative partners.
Costain Graduate Development Programme
Our programme focuses on helping individuals to learn a mix of both Leadership and Technical skills. We offer a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership in their chosen field. Graduates may also have the opportunity, after the first 8 – 10 months, to rotate and work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, experiencing the best we have to offer across the different sectors we work in. Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way.
About you
Please note that for some of our roles, and in order to rotate around the business as part of the graduate scheme, you may be required to obtain and maintain security clearance of at least Security Check level (or SC clearance). To satisfy the requirements, you will need to have been a legal UK resident for a minimum of 5 years and be able to successfully complete the vetting process.
