What skills and experience we're looking for
The role of a Cover Supervisor is a rewarding one and essential for supporting the day to day support of classes in the school. In this role you will work under the guidance of teaching staff and be responsible for supervising either whole class or work with individuals and groups during short term Teacher absence. You will ensure that set work is undertaken and manage the behaviour of students in line with the academy’s Behaviour Policy. The successful candidate will be also responsible for the daily management of cover requirements across the school. During free periods, you will provide wider administrative support to the school. The ideal candidate will have undertaken a similar role in the past. However, candidates who can demonstrate an enthusiasm/aptitude for engaging groups of young people and getting the best out of them through outside interests such as sports coaching, Guides/Scouts are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for organising the daily cover rota for absent staff and contacting teaching supply agencies to arrange supply staff. In periods where cover is not required you will support in the classroom as directed.
The post would ideally suit an individual considering a teaching career, but applications are welcome from any candidate with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role.
