Job overview
Grantham catering operates a Catering Unit providing meals to Grantham hospital patient services and the Restaurant providing over 85,000 meals a year. We have a retail service to patients, staff and visitors. The premise operates with an approved HACCP and safe working procedures.
We have a vacancy in the catering department for a Kitchen Supervisor to work in the Main Kitchen. The candidate will work as part of a very experienced team producing high volumes of meals for patients, staff and visitors. The hours are flexible to suit the needs of service, this will be any 5 from 7 including weekends and bank holidays as required. The job purpose will be to provide a safe, efficient catering service to patients, staff and visitors, and external contracts, to include weighing ingredients, preparation, cooking, chilling and service of food, and cleaning of equipment and work areas to the specified standard. This role also has supervisory requirements to help support the running of this department.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a motivated individual with initiative to work in a busy department as part of a team, with good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions while adhering to strict hygiene regulations. The candidate must hold a minimum basic food hygiene certificate and cooking qualifications (City and Guilds 706 1 & 2 or NVQ level 3). The successful candidate will have high personal standards, be able to complete simple records, operate machinery after training, and work without direct supervision. The position supports the team leader and Catering Manager with the day-to-day kitchen management.
