About the Job
We are looking for a senior medicinal chemist to join our drug discovery team to drive innovation by applying organic and medicinal chemistry expertise to our drug discovery and development projects.
Location: Cambridge, London, or Oxford - Hybrid working. Fully remote options are also available limited to the UK and Europe.
Contract: Full-time
Compensation: Competitive Salary and Share Options Package
Start Date: As soon as possible
Responsibilities:
* Apply expertise in organic and medicinal chemistry to design and develop high-quality compounds with favourable drug-like properties, aligned with CardiaTec’s platform target predictions.
* Provide strategic direction and technical oversight to CROs and external collaborators, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality data and outputs.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including biology and technology experts, to drive innovative drug discovery and infrastructure development.
* Implement and manage frameworks to identify and prioritise the most promising small molecules and starting points for drug discovery projects.
* Maintain detailed experimental records using Benchling and contribute to publications, grant applications, and scientific presentations to support the company’s research goals.
Key Requirements:
* PhD in Medicinal Chemistry or a related discipline, with over 3 years of experience in drug discovery within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry, focusing on small molecules.
* Proven expertise in organic and medicinal chemistry, including structure-based and ligand-based drug discovery, and familiarity with computational approaches.
* Track record of leading or co-leading drug discovery programmes from hit identification to lead optimisation, ideally to candidate delivery.
* Experience managing and collaborating with external chemistry partners and CROs.
* Demonstrable skills in the design, synthesis, and characterisation of small molecules, with familiarity in computational chemistry tools.

Here, we analyse large and high-dimensional human multi-omics data from heart tissues to better navigate complex disease biology and identify novel and differentiated therapeutics.
