We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to become part of our team at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
As a Pharmacy Assistant you will carry out a range of duties covering areas of the pharmacy department, including dispensary and distribution, to provide an efficient and comprehensive pharmacy service.
There is a requirement to possess an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) for this role.
All staff participate in weekend and the Bank Holiday working arrangements of the department and working shifted days to cover late nights.
Main duties of the job
To work as a key part of the pharmacy team both within our modern automated dispensary area and at ward level. This role involves activities related to stock distribution and medicine management, goods in and stock control, within the Pharmacy Department and to wards and departments of the Trust and other locations as appropriate.
The Pharmacy Assistant role has a multi-task role around medicines supply.
* Distribution: receiving in stock, using barcode technology, replenishing the automated dispensing robot, preparing ward boxes and restocking ward medicine supplies.
* Dispensary: dispensing prescriptions to meet turnaround times and providing support to the dispensary manager and lead technician in the day-to-day running of the dispensary.
* Ward dispensing of prescriptions, topping up stock medicines and delivery of medicines to wards.

Job responsibilities
Role
This position will rotate between dispensary and stores/distribution role. The successful applicant will be expected to cover all the following aspects within the department:
* Work in pharmacy stores receiving and processing orders & solving queries.
* Assist in the provision of a ward top-up service, visiting various wards and clinical areas within the Trust.
* Ensure accurate stock control of medicines.
* Accurately and efficiently label and dispense medicines for patients, including working in our satellite Pharmacies and delivering medication to and from the wards on an ad-hoc basis.
* Use the pharmacy robot and Ascribe computer system, whilst maintaining a clean and tidy environment.
* Work closely with other members of the pharmacy team to help deliver an efficient and effective pharmacy service to the hospital.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Able to speak and read English fluently.
* Able to do workout maths calculations when dispensing.
* Have an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or in training near to completion.
Experience Essential
* Current experience of working in a pharmacy.

* Proven ability for team working and good interpersonal skills, following procedures.

* Ability to work quickly, calmly, and accurately under pressure.
