Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
* Maintenance engineering activities (both planned and reactive)
* Learn a variety of automated equipment including robots, digital manufacturing systems, conveyor systems and injection moulding machines
* Safely trouble-shoot, diagnose and rectify faults on a variety of high volume machinery and production lines
* Complete planned preventative maintenance activities
* Carry out Portable Logic Controller (PLC) program interrogation to aid in fault diagnosis
* Identify and rectify issues associated with electrical, mechanical, electrical hydraulic and pneumatic (fluid power) systems along with automated quality control equipment
This role will be based in our "multi-skilled" Production Maintenance team, with opportunity to also train in our Tool Room and Building Services team.
This apprenticeship is aimed at those seeking a career in the field of "hands on" engineering and is very much aimed towards those who favour a more practical learning experience.

This apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership with Shrewsbury Colleges Group, London Road Campus, Shrewsbury, SY2 6PR.
Our apprenticeship allows for a blended learning approach, combining both college study and practical learning in the workplace.
You will be required to attend college for 3 days a week in Year 1 & 2 of your apprenticeship, with the remaining days on site at Ricoh UK Products Ltd, Priorslee, Telford, TF2 9NS to complete on-the-job learning/training.
In Year 3 & 4 you will be based on site full time at Ricoh to further develop your experience and on-the-job training, and to complete your NVQ Level 3 work based qualification.

Other requirements
Our Production Maintenance team operate within our key Production areas which are mandatory safety shoe zones, safety shoes and all required PPE will be provided and apprentices will be required to wear this. Some jobs may be messy (e.g. oil/grease) due to the equipment we have. Company uniform is provided.
