As a Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include helping students engage with their learning, supporting their emotional well-being, and fostering their confidence in school. You will be an essential part of the classroom team, providing a calming presence during emotional challenges. The classroom environment can often feel like an emotional rollercoaster, and your role will be to help students navigate their school day without feeling overwhelmed. Key Responsibilities: - Serve as the supportive figure that students need in the classroom, helping them access learning in their unique ways. This may involve helping them stay focused, managing behaviors, or simply being there to listen. - Assist in providing personalized support for students with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Make learning engaging and accessible while helping them feel at home in the classroom. Be the emotional support they may not even realize they need. - Utilise your organizational skills to manage the daily needs of students and ensure a smooth-running environment. Think of yourself as the backstage manager of a lively production, minus the glittery costumes. - Help create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel safe to express themselves, even if that involves a few challenging moments. - Collaborate effectively with teachers and other staff members, as teamwork is key to our success. What We're Looking For: - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to talk, listen, and even interpret some teenage language. - Reliability, great organisational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with the grace of a true multitasker. - Experience working with children in a paid or voluntary setting, especially with those who have faced challenges or children who have additional needs or disabilities - The ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
