The Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the engineering of all technology solutions that underpin Virgin Media O2's business critical applications. The Engineering team is responsible for Architecting, Designing and Implementing robust and highly available technology solutions that service VMO2's forty million customers on a daily basis. The Engineering team consists of Infrastructure Architects, Infrastructure Designers, Cloud Engineers, Platform Engineers, iSeries Engineers, UNIX Engineers and Storage & Backup Engineers.
The purpose of the Infrastructure & Automaton Engineering role is to work closely with all other disciplines in the VMO2 Engineering team to engineer robust and highly available solutions from conception through to implementation. They are responsible for taking complex requirements and translating them into solutions the business can consume.
The Infrastructure & Automaton Engineer will be part of an agile team of subject matter experts focusing on delivering secure and reliable internal systems to meet business goals within Virgin Media O2. They are responsible for improving server hardware and virtual machine deployment by implementing infrastructure as code, in line with architectural and design principles.
Over and above strategy definition & technology delivery, the Infrastructure & Automaton Engineer will identify and deliver service improvements across the estate, inclusive of tooling, automation and delivering efficiencies.
The Infrastructure & Automaton Engineer is able to communicate to people at all levels of the business, clearly articulating the decisions made for selecting a specific solution and ensuring that all platforms meeting strict security, availability, capacity and performance targets set out to deliver a business-critical service.

The must haves
In order to be considered, you must have the following experience:
1. Comprehensive Redhat Openshift knowledge including the build on both 'bare metal and deployments on virtual clusters.
2. Minimum 5 years hands on experience building, configuring and optimising UNIX/Linux platforms gained in an enterprise sized environment.
3. Proven experience in server and storage engineering with hands on expertise of infrastructure as code, including the use of tools such as: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet and similar platforms.
4. Significant knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies - VMWare.
5. Experience with GitLab and GitHub for version control, CI/CD, and repository management.
6. Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools, including Docker and Kubernetes.
The other stuff we are looking for
We'd also love you to bring:
1. Working knowledge of TCP/IP LAN/WAN/SDN networking principles, SAN & NAS based technologies & enterprise storage solutions.
2. Qualified in one or more ITIL / Project Delivery methodologies.
