In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.
The role of strategic buyer within Safran Seats GB supports a fast paced business that designs, certifies and manufactures aircraft seating of the highest quality and passenger focused excellence.
The strategic buyer has supplier and programme facing activities, including commercial negotiations and also supplier performance objectives such as quality, cost and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. To issue and monitor RFP's to suppliers using available engineering data.
2. Review and selection of suppliers based on proposals/quotations received.
3. Setup supplier data within the business ERP system.
4. Using MRP data to raise necessary PO's and work with a predetermined number of suppliers to ensure that materials ordered are delivered on time in full, and to the correct quality standards.
5. To develop relationships with suppliers.
6. To manage purchasing projects such as industrialisation of new products that include but are not limited to composite, metallic and electrical components.
7. To manage supplier Long Term Agreements.
Candidate Skills
1. Read and understand engineering drawings.
2. Demonstrable experience in problem solving techniques.
3. Knowledge of Purchasing activity within a manufacturing environment.
