Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities
As the Learning Support Manager, you will oversee a team of Study Support Advisors dedicated to supporting our delegates through their learning journey. The Study Support team is integral to helping our delegates optimise their learning journey and achieve success in their assessments. You will play a key role in driving team performance, ensuring quality standards, and incorporating digital tools and personalised support systems to cater to diverse learning needs. The Study Support Manager will also manage Phoenix’s Annual Support service, which provides organisations with expert health and safety advice, compliance updates, and tailored solutions, including audits, policy reviews and documentation. Acting as the designated “Competent Person” under UK law, the manager will ensure clients receive timely support via phone, email and regular newsletters, helping them stay compliant and informed while addressing their specific health and safety needs.
You will be responsible for:
* Leading, mentoring, and managing the Study Support team to ensure high-quality delegate support.
* Overseeing team workload, providing guidance on marking and feedback, and supporting team development.
* Conducting performance reviews and identifying training opportunities for team growth.
* Ensuring marking, assessments, and study support meet IOSH and organisational quality standards.
* Conducting internal quality assurance to maintain consistency and integrity in feedback and grading.
* Driving the integration of digital tools and personalised learning systems to enhance the delegate experience.
* Developing and implementing innovative support strategies for diverse learning needs.
* Collaborating with the Lead Trainer and Product team to create and refine training materials and resources.
* Ensuring study support services align with market trends and evolving delegate requirements.

We are looking for someone to make this role their own. You will have initiative, technical awareness and the desire to want to develop and improve on the services we offer. This position is essential to providing an adaptive study experience and continuous improvement of our resources. You will work closely with our Lead Trainer and Product team, contributing to the development of training materials and resources.
What’s the Most Challenging Thing About This Role?
You will need to be able to manage a heavy workload and extremely busy periods each month. Staying calm and focused as you lead the team through pressured times to meet deadlines and maintain a high-quality service. Key aspects of the Study Support function include responding to delegate queries, conducting group question and answer sessions, and providing mock papers marking and feedback. You will be supporting the team to resolve these issues and maintain an excellent customer service level.
Essential and desirable capabilities
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you must have / be:
* Chartered Member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).
* Proven experience as an examiner or in an equivalent assessment capacity.
* Experience in conducting internal quality assurance within a training or education setting.
* Familiarity with NEBOSH and the open book exam process.
* Strong leadership and team management skills with a focus on motivating and empowering team members.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback.
* Knowledge of digital learning tools and a commitment to enhancing learning through technology.
* Strategic thinker with an ability to adapt to changing needs and drive continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, it would be great if you have:
* Experience working in a learning or educational setting focused on adult learners.
