We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Registered Children's Nurse to join us as Lead Nurse for the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) and oversee the Neonatal Surgical Unit (NSU).
You will lead over 100 staff across both units, ensuring top-quality care for critically ill neonates and children, and compliance with national and local guidelines. Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and proven change management experience is essential.
You will have extensive paediatric critical care experience, with the ability to lead by example through clinical duties. This is an important position within the Care Group, working with the Head of Nursing and Associate Director to drive strategic planning and future developments.

3. Master's degree in a health-related subject or equivalent experience
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Associate Director of Nursing, your responsibilities will include:
1. Lead and manage the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) and Neonatal Surgical Unit (NSU)
2. Responsible for the operational and financial management of both units, ensuring alignment with the wider Care Group's plans.
3. Collaborate with the Head of Nursing, Clinical Director, and Associate Director on strategic planning to drive the future development of PCCU and NSU.
4. Oversee clinical governance procedures across the teams.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Registered Paediatric Nurse
* Master's degree in a health-related subject or equivalent level of experience
* Intensive Care Course APLS/NLS provider
* A clinical expert, either through formal qualification or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area
* Recognised leadership qualification
Experience
* Strong leadership skills with experience in team management both strategic and operational, to include recruitment, appraisal and supervision
* Experience of managing a complex case load
* Experience in inter-agency working
* Ability to build up a rapport with patients and the MDT
* Significant Relevant, demonstrable experience in speciality area
* Ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers with different levels of understanding
* Experience of teaching both in house and to external agencies
* Utilisation of research in practice
Knowledge & Skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations and publications
* To have proven experience of service development and change management in a complex clinical environment
* Demonstrate experience of developing policies and procedures
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as across departmental, organisational professional boundaries
* Experience of running audit programmes
* Basic counselling skills
