Description Wood is on the lookout for a Senior Civil Engineer to join Transmission & Distribution Ltd UK team due to remarkable growth. The position will focus on overseeing HV overhead line and/or underground cable projects. Embracing hybrid working, Wood offers a blend of office and remote work options. Travel may be necessary, and the role is flexible with the possibility of being stationed at any of Wood's UK offices. Reporting to the Principal Civil Engineer, you will provide civil engineering solutions to support the needs of our transmission projects including works designs. Coordination of the overall output and delivery of designs by managing engineering resources and interfaces with the operational teams is required. You will approve activities of the team to ensure the accuracy and quality of outputs. Development of team skills and knowledge is part of the role. Supporting the development of systems and technologies to enhance our efficiency, quality, and innovation is key. Responsibilities What You Will Do: Produce calculations in support of the following typical civil engineering designs: Foundations – Shallow Foundations and Pile Cap designs; Reinforced concrete; Steelwork; Masonry and minor building designs (maximum two stories); and Temporary works including excavations up to 5m deep, equipment working pad designs, temporary roads, highway junctions, & culverts. Direct internal CAD resources in the production of construction drawings and maps. Support safety by design assessments throughout the design process. Integrate and support the development of innovation within project solutions. Create design deliverables to confirm the outputs of the engineering studies to internal and external stakeholders. Direct internal CAD resources in the production of AFC drawings. Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is conducted in compliance with the agreed budget and programme. Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope. Progressing towards or recently achieved Chartered Engineer status. Experience in civil engineering design in accordance with current codes of practice. Experience taking lead roles on part or whole projects for a wider team. Experience training and developing others as well as yourself. Ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
