Trade Union Organiser
£37,093.08 for 26 hours, £18,546.54 for 13 hours (£49,933 FTE) per annum
Part time, 26 hours per week (one part-time position at 26 hours per week or two part-time positions at 13 hours per week each, contingent on the availability of two suitable candidates to collectively fulfill the 26-hour requirement)
Fixed term contract for 24 months
Home based and living within Wales or South West, or close enough proximity to be able to travel and meet the requirements of this role (subject to meeting homeworking assessment requirements, which includes a minimum broadband speed of 18Mbps and a dedicated space to work from)
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) is the professional, educational and trade union body for the 65,000 Chartered Physiotherapists, support workers and students in the UK; and one of the largest representative bodies in healthcare.
In this role, you will be working collaboratively with other CSP organisers and colleagues across the wider Employment Relations and Union Services (ERUS) team, to support the continued development of the CSP as an effective trade union.
You will recruit members and local union reps while supporting workplace activity and campaigns to defend and improve working conditions.
You will be able to use your experience, knowledge and skills to help realise the CSP organising strategy, participating in operational and strategic planning and evaluating the outcome of activities.
To succeed in this post, you will be an excellent communicator with confident and credible presentation skills. You will have a good understanding of the role of workplace representatives and the particular issues for a trade union and professional body. You will also need to have sensitivity and skills in facilitation to enable members to find their own solutions to workplace issues.
You will have previous experience as an organiser within a trade union or equivalent expertise within another organisation.
The role involves extensive travel, chiefly within the areas of Wales and the South West of England.
