An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Learning from Deaths team, where you will help develop progressive and innovative systems to embed learning from deaths, and support the implementation of relevant quality improvement projects across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
The role of Clinical Outcomes Improvement Manager (Learning from Deaths) supports the development and delivery of the Trust’s Mortality & Learning from Deaths programmes as part of the Trust’s delivery of effective clinical services, including a focus on clinical specialty and divisional engagement, reporting and assurance for Learning from Deaths.
The Clinical Outcomes Improvement Manager will work as a dynamic, proactive and inclusive team manager using an influencing and supportive style to ensure the Learning from Deaths administrative function operates effectively.
The Clinical Outcomes Improvement Manager (Learning from Deaths) will ensure active engagement with divisions and is responsible for working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure full assurance with targets and compliance across the portfolio.
The role will co-ordinate projects from planning stage through to reporting stage and ensure that the information is presented coherently to relevant internal and external parties as required, working closely with clinicians at all levels to support and promote continued improvements in Mortality and End of Life Care.
The Clinical Outcomes Improvement Manager will ensure the successful delivery of allocated Quality Improvement projects by developing and implementing programmes of work with the Learning from Deaths Lead (divisional, specialty-based or individually owned projects).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Report to and support the Mortality and Learning from Deaths Lead and deliver against the portfolio within the Trust.
Support the development, implementation and monitoring of all aspects of Mortality and Learning from Deaths portfolio and quality improvement activity within the Trust.
Provide expert guidance to ensure the allocation of SJRs to Reviewers are prioritised and completed in a timely manner.
Support reviewers who may require additional advice and guidance.
Develop effective communication networks across multi-professional and multi-disciplinary groups to ensure all departments and directorates are fully aware of Mortality and Learning from Deaths guidelines and any other work and programmes within the Mortality and Learning from Deaths portfolio.
Attend divisional meetings and Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) meetings and report against the agenda item on Mortality and Learning from Deaths programmes of work and divisional performance, assisting proactively to ensure improvement and compliance.
Facilitate and ensure that all Clinical Audits/QIPs are focused on local, national and regional priorities.

Person specification
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Experience of managing and delivering projects and quality improvement projects and/or working in a similar role within the NHS
* Experience of leading change and delivering agreed outcomes
* Demonstrable clinical outcomes & effectiveness skills e.g. Literature Searching Critical Appraisal Robust study and questionnaire design
* Analytical skills and experience of data management e.g. data analysis, interpretation of results, statistical support
* Thorough understanding of confidentiality & application to clinical effectiveness work
* Excellent report writing and presentation skills
* Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools such as Prince II Foundation level or Microsoft project
