Business Development Manager – Battery Recycling & Logistics
My client is a leader in battery recycling and resource recovery, looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to drive growth and strategic partnerships in the UK and EU. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work at the forefront of the circular economy, engaging with key industry players in the battery sector.
The Role:
Reporting to the Director, Head of European Upstream Sales, the Business Development Manager will focus on two key areas:
1. Developing and managing compliance scheme contracts in the UK (covering all battery types).
2. Expanding access to Li-ion batteries for recycling through partnerships with OEMs, battery manufacturers, collectors, and waste battery producers across the UK and EU.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the development of regional sales strategies to expand key account relationships.
2. Develop and implement customer key account plans, setting financial growth targets and aligning with technical, marketing, and operational initiatives.
3. Manage commercial negotiations with both existing and prospective partners.
4. Deliver market and customer insights to strengthen business integration and long-term cooperation.
5. Drive the growth of existing accounts and acquisition of new customers and suppliers.
6. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across commercial, logistics, finance, and operations teams to exceed customer expectations.
7. Monitor market trends and identify new business opportunities.
8. Stay up to date with evolving industry standards and regulations.
Candidate Profile:
1. Degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s) in a relevant technical or business discipline.
2. Proven experience in B2B sales and business development in recycling, batteries, or metals industries.
3. Strong negotiation and communication skills with a results-driven mindset.
4. Industry network in waste, recycling, or logistics is highly beneficial.
5. Understanding of battery technologies in production or recycling is an advantage.
6. Ability to develop profitable solutions for complex commercial challenges.
7. Strong commitment to HSE and quality standards.
8. Experience working in a multicultural team environment.
