Carpenter (Multi-Skilled Operative)

At Watford Community Housing, we provide vital services that help people to live better lives. We’re looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our in-house repairs team and help us deliver a high-quality repairs and maintenance service to our residents.
What’s the role?
You will personally undertake general carpentry and joinery tasks including first and second fixes to kitchens, necessary repair works and glazing to agreed specifications and standards.
The role involves maintaining a good working relationship with staff and working closely with our Planning team and team leaders. You’ll work effectively and proactively with your colleagues to deliver an excellent repairs service to our customers who are the heart of our organisation.
In this role you will need to:
* have kitchen installation experience
* be able to conduct staircase repairs
* hang internal and external doors
* repair / replace sub-floors and floor boarding
* measure and install glazed units
* carry out repairs to PVCU windows and doors (including locks)
* work to ensure high standard of customer service
What are we looking for?
You will be customer-focused, with the ability to interact empathetically with a wide variety of people. You’ll have an excellent grasp of working as a team and delivering an excellent repairs service. You will have a background in carpentry and joinery and knowledge of the housing or construction sectors would be a distinct advantage.
Essential:
* Experience in carpentry and joinery
* Experienced in setting out and implementing range of carpentry and joinery related tasks
* You will need to hold a UK driving licence
* You will need to maintain a satisfactory basic level DBS check.
Desirable:
* Previous locksmith experience skills would be of an advantage.
* Multi trade experience would also be of benefit to assist with planned works.
