Abatec are working with a Civil Engineering and Earthworks contractor operating across England. They undertake projects ranging from £100,000 to £(phone number removed) in value for both public and private sector clients across a wide range of sectors.
As a Senior Estimator you will:
1. Completion of tender documentation and submission of the tender.
2. Preparing tender Bills of Quantities.
3. Preparation of analytical cost estimates including preliminaries.
4. Prepare budgets and cost plans.
5. Appraisal of tender documents.
6. Preparation of material and sub-contract enquiries including the selection of prospective subcontractors.
7. Attending strategy / opportunity meetings with project team.
8. Contribute to the design development process and attend design team meetings as required.
9. Adjudication and comparison of sub-contractor quotations.
10. Initiate technical queries and ensure design sufficiently developed to ensure accurate costings.
11. Risk management throughout the tender period and preparation of the tender Risk Register.
12. Value engineering throughout the design phase of design and build projects.
13. Presentation of the tender to be presented to senior management at tender settlement meetings including the highlighting of any major commercial issues of elevated risk.
14. Ensure a smooth handover of the project to the operational team.
15. To support and be familiar with own role and responsibility in respect of Business Continuity Planning.
16. Ensuring that team members are also aware of the plans and communicates same.
Our client requires a Senior Estimator with:
1. Appropriate related degree or similar (essential).
2. A minimum of 10-years’ experience in a similar role.
3. Competent use of Microsoft packages e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (essential).
4. Extensive experience of analytical estimating across a broad spectrum, up to a value of £20m.
5. All forms of contract including traditional, partnering, design & build, 2 stage tenders and frameworks (essential).
6. Experience of using estimating software i.e. Causeway (essential).
7. Well-developed Civil Engineering Knowledge (essential).
8. Knowledge of industry standards with Tier 1 contractors (essential).
9. Cost Planning, quality submission experience.
10. Be able to build-up an estimating from first principles, understanding outputs, methodology to develop sequence and programme. Compare outputs and sequence with the tender planner to compare and adjudicate.
Salary and benefits include:
1. Up to £70,000 per annum
2. Hybrid working (1 day in the office per week)
3. 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
