As Assistant Buyer, you will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Procurement Manager to ensure specified materials are available on site to meet programmes and assist with the efficient running of the material purchasing function. You will contribute positively towards saving the business money, minimising waste and increasing profits through sourcing suppliers, negotiating and managing suppliers through the whole procurement process.
Key departmental responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
1. Assist the Procurement Manager to ensure materials are delivered to sites in line with site programmes and specification and are purchased at competitive prices.
2. Assist in the collation of documentation and issuing of material tender enquiries.
3. Assist in the assessment and comparison of material quotations.
4. Process new material orders.
5. Assist in production of monthly reports detailing material spend.
6. Work with the Procurement Manager to research new and relevant products.
7. Carry out invoice checking procedure and where necessary deal with invoice queries.
8. Continually monitor material lead times, keeping site managers informed, instigate forward material allocation when necessary.
9. Assist with site call offs.
10. Provide general assistance to the Contracts & Estimating team as and when required.
11. To maintain relationships with suppliers to maximise the profitability of the Company.
