Job Description

Are you ready to help lead a team of talented engineers and shape the future of water infrastructure?
Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Engineering team as Principal Structural Engineer in one of our offices, whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.
At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients - including major UK water companies (Wessex Water and Southwest Water locally), contractors and international projects. This role represents a great opportunity to develop your career as a technical expert delivering solutions on a diverse range of projects that meet the technical challenges of today and tomorrow.
Here’s what you’ll do:
* Structural Design: Undertake the design and review of structures on wastewater and water infrastructure treatment projects, such as water-retaining structures and other water related assets, from concept through construction. Lead the delivery of structural design by others.
* Collaborate: With Clients and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholders buy in to solutions, and also contribute to AECOM's wider technical capability and innovative approach.
* Quality: Produce and review high quality deliverables, including calculations, drawings and technical reports to relevant standards and procedures.
* Deliver: Take responsibility for delivering to the agreed budget, programme and quality along with supporting the preparation of project budget & programme.
* Explore: Seek opportunities to innovate and trial new methods by being inquisitive and forward thinking.
* Mentor: Delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others and act as a technical mentor to more junior staff.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.
Come grow with us.
Become part of our dynamic Water business, which boasts around 670 experts across the UK & Ireland, including 5 structural engineers in your immediate team. Collaborate with top-tier civil, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to deliver a variety of captivating projects, from small initiatives to large-scale ventures, all the way from concept to completion. At AECOM, you’ll thrive in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment where your contributions are valued.
And let's not forget about the perks at AECOM. You'll enjoy a range of core and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being, customised to fit your lifestyle. Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days.

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
Here’s what we’re looking for:

* Possess a range of structural analysis and design experience, particularly in relation to reinforced concrete and steelwork structures.
* Experience working in a digital delivery environment using BIM and 3D design tools.
* Have a membership/working towards membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE or IStructE).
