The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Avon and Somerset is looking to recruit an experienced Personal Assistant to join our friendly and professional team. The Police and Crime Commissioner leads improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of policing, victim support and criminal justice services on behalf of local people. The role is based in Portishead, near Bristol. Reporting to the Secretariat Manager, the Personal Assistant to the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, the Chief of Staff and the Chief Finance Officer is a key role within the Secretariat Team. The role will work at the heart of the Office of the PCC, providing essential support and diary management to the three principals, supporting each of them to fulfil their statutory duties and deliver the PCC’s strategic objectives. The core responsibilitie s of this interesting and varied role are: Manage diaries, prioritising time effectively to support the strategic objectives of the PCC and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders to support and maintain effective relationships. Manage e-mail inboxes to ensure priority e-mails are responded to and deadlines are met, responding or progressing correspondence as appropriate. Act as a first point of contact for all telephone callers or visitors ensuring that the appropriate member of staff deals with enquiries and ensures effective use of DPCC/CoS/CFO time. Attend meetings in an administrative/secretarial capacity, taking minutes as required. Work flexibly to provide support as needed to the three principals, to support the PCC’s important role in police leadership and accountability, victim services and the criminal justice system.
