Fusion People Role - Senior General Foreman - Southern Location: Cornwall Hourly Rate - £250.00 PAYE
THE ROLE
The role is to proactively lead and effectively coordinate construction phase activities within the Project Teams for the Southern Water AMP6/7 framework program. With full responsibility for delivering all physical elements of construction work activities from commencement through to completion, maximising quality of product, service and profitability while ensuring schemes are delivered safely and to time.
You will:
1. Create a knowingly safe working environment.
2. In conjunction with the Site Manager, co-ordinate and control initial site set-up.
3. Competent in managing direct work force (foreman, gangers, and direct labour force in the self-delivery of civil works of teams during the construction phase of projects.
4. Competent in the delivery of more complex civil works.
5. Carry out daily ten-minute briefings and toolbox talks.
6. Ability to read and understand construction drawings, and take accurate material take offs.
7. Ability to write RAMS and brief the work force on them to ensure they understand the task.
8. Manage the works to meet a programme, ensuring the right level of resources are maintained for the tasks.
9. Participation in weekly programme/progress meetings during the construction phase to advise progress and resources are effectively deployed to meet programme and cost targets.
10. Efficient management of construction resources including labour, plant and materials in line with budgets.
11. Liaise with subcontractors (on site) to ensure efficient delivery of the projects, providing such support as detailed in their subcontract agreements.
12. Ability to work across a number of projects at any given time (dependent on size).
13. Identify discipline-specific technical issues and feedback to the project team for resolution.
14. Development of direct reports to drive and achieve continuous improvement.
YOU:
1. Demonstrable experience and understanding of managing and working in a similar role in Water/Wastewater (minimum 5 years).
2. ONC / HNC or NVQ 3 in a construction discipline. Good understanding of engineering/construction principles and practices including temporary works.
3. SMSTS/SSSTS.
4. First Aid.
5. Preferably confined space trained (training can be provided).
6. Preferably Temporary Works Supervisor (CITB).
7. EUSR Water hygiene trained.
8. Demonstrable ability to motivate and manage people.
