Science Technician L1 - Permanent Hours of work: 33.75 hours a week, Monday - Friday 8.00am - 3.15pm with a 30 minute unpaid break, Term Time - plus 2 days (13.5 hours) to be worked - 1 teacher day before the start of the new academic year, open evening and any meetings after school.There is an expectation that you may need to attend training or staff meetings outside of your working hours, this will be paid as overtime.Salary Details FTE: LG Band 3, points 5-6 - £23,500- £23,893 (FTE)Actual Salary: £18,214 - £18,940 based on experienceWe have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and innovative Science Technician to join us at Moat CC. The post-holder will play an important role in supporting the teaching staff within the Science Department and in ensuring the safe and proper use and maintenance of resources and equipment.
The successful Candidate should be organised, enthusiastic and proactive individual to provide support to our Science Department. You would be working in our busy, successful Science Department with an effective and friendly team. preparing materials and equipment for demonstrations and practical lessons. You will provide technical support, including Health & Safety guidance, to pupils and teachers and will assist in practical classes and carrying out demonstrations. As well as this, you’ll take pride in ensuring Science facilities are maintained to a high standard, conforming to Health and Safety standards whilst also assisting in auditing the use of facilities and equipment and maintaining the equipment stores.A working knowledge of laboratories or a scientific environment is helpful and experience of working in a secondary school is desirable but not essential. Any relevant training will be given.
