Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer\n\nLocation: [Insert Location]\n Sector: Water & Rail Infrastructure\n Type: [Permanent / Contract]\n Salary: [Insert Salary Range]\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe're looking for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team and help deliver outstanding design solutions for critical infrastructure projects across the water and rail sectors.\n\nIn this role, you'll take technical ownership of design packages, mentor junior staff, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective designs.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProduce geotechnical and civil engineering design deliverables, including calculations, reports, and drawings.\n\nLead the preparation of ground investigation (GI) specifications, interpretive reports, and design documentation.\n\nEnsure designs comply with all applicable technical standards, industry regulations, and internal quality processes.\n\nSupport and mentor CAD technicians, graduates, and junior engineers.\n\nParticipate in design reviews, Interdisciplinary Checks (IDC), and HAZOP/HAZID meetings (KM7).\n\nEstimate resource requirements for project tasks and monitor delivery progress.\n\nManage and record project design changes in accordance with governance procedures.\n\nRequired Qualifications & Experience\n\nMinimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical and/or civil engineering design.\n\nStrong knowledge of geotechnical principles, site investigations, and reporting.\n\nHND or Degree-qualified in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or similar discipline).\n\nProficient in engineering software and general IT tools.\n\nRegistered with a professional institution and actively working towards Chartership.\n\nPrevious experience in regulated infrastructure environments (e.g., rail, utilities, highways, nuclear, oil & gas).\n\nPreferred Qualifications & Experience\n\nChartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent).\n\nExperience in both geotechnical and civil design across multidisciplinary projects.\n\nFamiliarity with engineering drawing practices and digital design tools.\n\nExperience in the water or railway sectors.\n\nAwareness of construction methods, materials, and ground investigation procedures.\n\nKey Skills & Attributes\n\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\n\nStrong technical knowledge and attention to detail.\n\nResults-driven with a proactive approach to problem-solving.\n\nCommitted to professional development and mentoring others.\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.\n\nWhy Join Us?\n\nWork on high-impact infrastructure projects across the UK.\n\nSupportive, people-first culture focused on growth and development.\n\nOpportunities for career advancement and Chartership support.\n\nFlexible working options and competitive compensation package
