Who we are: The Grace Eyre Foundation is a charity based across the wider Sussex community that has been working with people with a Learning Disability and autistic people since 1898. Our mission is to work towards being led by people with Learning Disabilities and autistic people to deliver high-quality housing, support and activities in their local communities. Introduction: Grace Eyre has an ambitious Employment Strategy from 2020 till 2027 to increase the employment of people with learning disabilities and/ or autism in the Sussex area.
The Grace Eyre Foundation are seeking engaging, inspiring and experienced freelance ‘Skills Development’ Tutors to deliver work skills, life skills or functional numeracy courses for adults with a learning disability and/or autism across Sussex. Some of the accredited courses that we will be delivering include: –
1) Multiply – improving money and numbers skills
2) Skills for Work – improving people’s readiness to join the workforce
3) Skills for Life – Improving wellbeing, confidence and daily living skills
As one of our Skills Development Tutors, you will work closely with our Employment & Skills Coordinator and Active Lives Learning & Development Manager in delivering these various courses. You will deliver these courses at Grace Eyre locations, community centres and with carefully selected partners, e.g. other social care providers.
We are seeking engaging, inspirational and enthusiastic tutors with experience teaching individuals with a learning disability and/or autism. Being able to be flexible, good IT skills and work well with various stakeholders is important, e.g. students, families, carers and partners.
Brief outline of the role:
You do not need to have an official teaching qualification, but must have experience of working with learners with SEN and supporting them achieve accreditation.
Familiarity with OFSTED and ASDAN would be highly attractive. You will have exceptional communication skills with the ability to support and adapt to a range of support needs. Enhanced DBS check required.
