ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Through the NWS Call-off Contract, KBR is required to provide Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) with Project Management (P3M) support and is contracted to supply the services, resources and skills needed to establish and develop the NWS Geological Disposal Facility (GDF).
KBR bring extensive experience and expertise to the NWS Programme, gained during the delivery of its portfolio of Nuclear sector projects and programmes. Working collaboratively with NWS, KBR will complement their existing capability and provide NWS access to a pool of high-quality programme and project management resources to support and deliver the GDF facility.
ROLE INFORMATION
KBR are seeking a Project Controls Engineer to work within the KBR NWS Call-off Contract for KBR GS EMEA. The role will require the Project Controls Engineer to work within an agile environment, delivering the work both remotely, working-from-home and through face-to-face engagements, meetings, and workshops at the Clients offices in Oxfordshire or designated community site locations throughout the UK.
The Project Controls Engineer will work within the KBR NWS Programme Management Office (PMO) Team and report directly to the KBR PMO Lead.
THE ROLE
The Project Controls Engineer will assist in providing Project Control practical expertise, direction and implementation, including support, in delivery of KBR’s allocated Service Packages, released as part of the NWS Major Capital Programme for the Geological Disposal Facility (GDF). They will provide assurance that KBR Service Packages and/or allocated scopes of work are delivered in a safe, efficient, and effective manner in line with both KBR and NWS project and programme objectives.
Responsibilities for this role include:
1. Familiarization with internal and external stakeholders and their requirements.
2. Establishing, implementing and maintaining best-in-class Project Controls standards.
3. Assisting in the identification and cross project agreement of interface milestones (gives and gets).
4. Assisting and delivering to the KBR and NWS PMO and Project Controls Teams
5. Assisting with the development and implementation of the PMO / Project Controls execution strategy to achieve Contractual and best-in-class requirements.
6. Assisting with developing PMO and Project Controls standards, policies and procedures.
7. Coordination with Programme and Project Management Team’s on all aspects of PMO and Project Controls.
8. Assisting and supporting the establishing and management of a Programme WBS and linked schedule, estimating and cost plans.
9. Assisting with establishing and managing a CBS, OBS, budget control as well as Programme and Project outturn cost control.
10. Assisting with establishing and managing a Risk Management plan.
11. Assisting with establishing and managing Document Control processes, procedures and adherence.
12. Assisting with establishing and managing Change Control processes, procedures and adherence.
13. Developing and assisting with progress, cost and risk monitoring and analysis.
14. Contributing to Programme and Project monthly and weekly reports, both internal and external and to all stakeholder levels of Governance.
15. Preparing presentations.
The Project Controls Engineer will also be responsible, with PMO and Project Controls Teams, for ensuring that governance and maturity is maintained and appropriately managed. This could include board assurance and engagement with the wider programme, reporting and change processes as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
16. Ability to integrate and work with PMO and Project Controls Team effort for a complex project.
17. Proficient in logic development involving integrated EPC execution.
18. Knowledge of engineering and construction work processes.
19. Understanding of work milestone and EVM progress measurement systems.
20. Ability to conduct and develop Critical Path Analysis (CPS) narratives and risk / mitigation / evaluation exercises for analysis preparation.
21. Working knowledge of Project Control techniques to interrogate and proactively produce, develop and manage outputs.
22. Proven ability to assimilate project information from a variety of sources, understand the impact / implications of misalignments and issues and propose action.
23. Proven ability to collaborate with other teams and adjacent projects to achieve optimal performance objectives.
24. Strong team working and interpersonal skills with the confidence to integrate with stakeholders at all levels.
25. Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
26. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing and presentation skills.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS and CERTIFICATIONS
27. Degree or Diploma in a Construction, Project Management, Engineering or Technology discipline.
28. A robust track record within the Project Controls environment and discipline.
29. Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
30. Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
31. Experience seeing projects through the full lifecycle.
32. Excellent analytical skills.
33. Strong interpersonal skills.
34. Proven ability to deliver projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timelines.
35. Strong experience with PowerPoint
