The key aim of this role is to provide an efficient invigilation service in order to provide the best conditions possible for candidates and to prevent any breach of the rules under which examinations are conducted.
Main Duties:
1. Work under the direction of the Exams Officer and, in conjunction with fellow invigilators, ensure alert and comprehensive supervision of candidates.
2. Assist with setting up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment, and examination papers in strict accordance with agreed procedures.
3. Assist candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats, advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues, and ensuring that they do not talk inside examination venues.
4. Invigilate during examinations by unobtrusive patrolling around the examination room, dealing with queries raised by candidates, and dealing with examination irregularities in strict accordance with agreed procedures.
5. Complete attendance registers neatly during examinations.
6. Report immediately to the examinations team any instances of malpractice or suspected cheating or any other improper behaviour.
7. Escort candidates from venues during the examinations as required and supervise candidates whilst outside examination venues, for example, whilst in ‘quarantine’ due to examination timetable clashes.
8. Collect and collate scripts at the end of the examination in strict accordance with agreed procedures.
9. Supervise candidates leaving examination venues, ensuring that candidates do not remove equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation and ensuring that candidates leave venues in an orderly and quiet manner.
10. Work in the bag storage room, as necessary (this will involve some lifting).
11. Undertake any necessary training and professional development relevant to the post.
12. Ensure the application of the school's policies and procedures with regard to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of young people.
13. Operate within all relevant school policies including Health and Safety.
14. Follow the school's administrative procedures.
15. Undertake such other duties, as may be reasonably required by the Line Manager, Examinations Department or the Head of School or members of Leadership Team acting on the Head of School's behalf.
