Job summary Nursing Associates support the provision of holistic, person-centred care and support for people of all ages, across the lifespan and in a variety of settings. The nursing associate works independently - within the remit of the role - to assess, plan, implement and evaluate; undertaking aspects of care delegated by registered nurses and registered allied health professionals. The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the "four pillars" of nursing practice: Clinical Practice, Facilitating Learning, Leadership and Research/Audit awareness. Nursing associates are accountable. Equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to employment, they will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to which they are registered. Nursing associates will work effectively as part of an inter-professional environment, contributing to a safe and excellent patient/service user experience. Nursing Associates will promote the health and wellbeing of patients/service users across all health and care settings - making every contact count. Main duties of the job Adhere to the Trust policy for the safe keeping of patients' personal possessions. Undertake cleaning and correct storage of equipment at the direction of the Plastic Trauma Coordinator. Assist with ordering, unpacking and checking of stores as required. To assist in the cost effective and efficient utilisation of hospital supplies and resources. Clean patient trolleys, and other furniture and/or equipment after discharge of patient according to hospital policies. Answer telephone in the correct manner and take messages as appropriate or refer to Plastic Trauma Coordinators / Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Listen to impromptu complaints made by patients, relatives or other staff and refer to the appropriate person Assist in the general cleanliness and tidiness of SPEAC clinic rooms and Minor Operating Room. Participate in an annual performance review. Understand the importance of fire precautions and be aware of hospital policy regarding emergency procedures for example fire, cardiac arrest and major incident. Be aware of the correct procedure in the event of a respiratory/ cardiac arrest and assist as instructed by a registered nurse following training. Be aware of responsibility in respect of the protection of vulnerable children and adults, gaining competence in Safeguarding Level 2 Training.
