The Council’s financial position is challenging, having been reliant upon Exceptional Financial Support in 2024/25, the Council needs to deliver around £30m of savings by 2026/27. About the role: We are seeking a Head of Financial Planning and Business Partnering (deputy s151 officer) who will drive innovation and modernisation. This is not just another finance role this is an opportunity to fundamentally reshape how we approach financial management. Your priority will be to develop a financial accountability framework, deliver proactive and insightful business partnering that is aligned to deliver our ambitious financial strategy whilst optimising the use of technology. About you: You will be an aspiring s151 officer with a strong technical understanding of Local Government Finance and the ability to challenge and support Service Directors. You will be someone who thrives on delivering improvement, has experience of working with politicians, and can influence change in a complex organisation. Your technical expertise will be matched by your ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly and build trust with Elected Members and senior leaders.
