Company Benefits: $80,000-120,000 plus insurance and kiwisaver
Description
* Great progression pathways including into project management or operations.
* Contracts with telco providers are for 20 years+, so not impacted by the economy.
* Great culture, with a start-up vibe but the latest tech stack.
The Company: This company is the owner of a significant portion of New Zealand's telco infrastructure assets. Originally set up after the acquisition of OneNZ (then Vodafone's) towers, the business is owned by 3 investment funds and now consists of 50 people across Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. They have a start-up feel, with a 'challenge the status quo' attitude.
The business has a focus on automation and a very sophisticated tech stack, utilizing the latest tools and software. Their contracts with telco providers are for 20+ years, so the state of the economy isn't a concern.
With well-funded investors, the business makes a point of paying well. They also have great benefits, which helped achieve a recent employee engagement score of 87%. The team works from home 2 days a week and currently works summer hours, where they finish at 3 PM on a Friday.
The Role:
Working within a team of 6 Engineers, the business is looking to grow their in-house offering, bringing work back from consultants. Based out of either Christchurch or Auckland, you will be involved in the structural design, construction monitoring, and associated contract administration of a range of telco structures and assets.
There are good progression pathways, either continuing your technical development, or transitioning into the in-house Project Management team or operations. You will also get a lot of exposure to all of the major telco providers, creating a vast number of options.
This is a client-side role as well, so you aren't measured on utilization and billables. There are time sheets; however, they are for measuring spend on each tower rather than measuring you. The major difference, however, is the speed of decision-making and getting things done. No more waiting for a client to respond to an RFI, simply walk across the office.
You Will Need:
* 3-4 years experience as a Structural Engineer.
* Relevant tertiary qualification.
* Can-do attitude; they are not a compliance-based business. They really like people who challenge the status quo, make decisions, and share ideas.
* Ideally, you will have had some exposure to telco structural design; however, if not, experience designing industrial/water structures is acceptable.
This is a unique, client-side opportunity, resilient to the market that pays very well. In the current environment, it sounds like a dream to me.
