An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated individual to join as a Band 7 Team Leader in Recovery at the Leicester General Hospital. This is a permanent position, however, a secondment would be considered.
The successful applicant will lead a highly skilled group of recovery staff and theatre support staff whilst liaising with the wider organisation to facilitate a high quality, safe and productive service.
The successful candidate will need to be dynamic, hardworking and enthusiastic, with a willingness to lead from the front.
Applicants are invited from individuals who consider themselves a strong leader with excellent communication skills, who are visible and accessible and someone who places quality and standards as a priority. You will also need to be flexible, fair, and adaptable to the changing needs of the service.
A minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 6 level (or equivalent), including leadership and management skills, as well as being able to establish credible working relationships quickly and hold excellent organisational skills are essential.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for setting the standards and supporting your team to deliver these, sharing the Trust's values and ambitions, with the patient's safety and experience at the forefront of what you do.
You will also undertake the role of floor control, coordinating theatre activity to cover 24/7 service delivery and providing a direct line of contact for wider site and Trust wide actions.
Provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the area for which they are accountable.
Act as an expert clinical practitioner providing through themselves and their recovery team an excellent quality of care to patients and service users.
Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the recovery team, CMG and across the wider organisation/Division.
Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement and newly appointed staff within the recovery for which they are responsible.
Job responsibilities
Support and develop new ways of working and new role developments.
Find as far as reasonably possible creative financial solutions to expenditure problems and ideas for developments contributing to business planning.
Actively engage in the Trust's selection, recruitment and retention strategies.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times and information relating to patient/users and personnel is used only in connection with authorised duties.
Use health related information only for the purposes of what it is intended for and in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Support the Matron to manage their Team of staff, taking responsibility for the day to day leadership of the Teams across the recovery unit.
Line manage the team, ensuring that all aspects of performance, attendance, training, sickness absence and appraisals are addressed in accordance with Trust Policies.
Have evidence of attending and contributing to regular Team meetings.
Mobilise staff cross site to gain additional skills and work collaboratively with other Band 7 staff to deliver services to patients at all sites.
Show positive and strong leadership in times of change or crisis.
Act in a professional manner and ensure self and ward/Department staff adheres to the UHL Uniform policy at all times.
Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Recent experience supporting learners.
* Clinical leadership program.
* Recognised NMC/HCPC teaching and assessing qualification.
Experience
* Minimum 5 years post registration experience including 2 years at band 6.
* Demonstrates high level of clinical expertise.
* Good understanding of quality, safety and risk management.
Communication and Relationships
* Ability to lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Participates in formal and informal teaching.
* Acts as a clinical role model and support for learners in the area.
Planning and Organisation
