System Clinical Lead for End of Life
NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant
The Bedfordshire Luton and Milton Keynes (ICB) is responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of the Integrated Care System (ICS), namely: to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare; tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access; enhance productivity and value for money; and help the NHS support broader social and economic development.
Within this context, as the ICB develops as a statutory organisation, a significant challenge will be to determine how it effectively supports and enables place-based and local partnerships to take necessary action that will improve population health outcomes and reduce inequalities.
The All-Age BLMK Dying Well Programme brings stakeholders together to create alignment around the programme of transformational work that will improve the care and experience of people across BLMK who are approaching, and at the end of their lives.
The role of the Clinical Lead is to provide clinical leadership to the Dying Well Programme.
The role holder will work across our communities to reduce health inequalities for our residents who will need to access palliative and end of life care provision.
The role holder will support the Programme SRO to identify, set, maintain and improve our standards and End of Life and Palliative Care services across our system.
The role holder may be a palliative and end of life care clinician working across any of our specialities including Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals.
Main duties of the job
The role holder will be required to work autonomously and with the programme SRO and ICB system transformation team to support the BLMK ICB system to transform palliative and end of life care, improve outcomes and look for opportunities to create and reinforce clinical pathways.
The role holder will provide clinical leadership, be a credible ambassador for PEOL and build relationships across the system.
