This role is based in Knutsford.

Purpose of the role
To design, develop, andimplement solutions to complex business problems, collaborating withstakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, and designand implement solutions that meet those needs and create solutionsthat balance technology risks against business delivery, drivingconsistency.
Accountabilities
* Design anddevelopment of solutions as products that can evolve, meeting businessrequirements that align with modern software engineering practices andautomated delivery tooling. This includes identification andimplementation of the technologies and platforms.
* Targeteddesign activities that apply an appropriate workload placementstrategy and maximise the benefit of cloud capabilities such aselasticity, serverless, containerisation etc.
* Best practicedesigns incorporating security principles (such as defence in depthand reduction of blast radius) that meet the Bank’s resiliencyexpectations.
* Solutions that appropriately balance risks andcontrols to deliver the agreed business and technology value.
* Adoption of standardised solutions where they fit. If nostandard solutions fit, feed into their ongoing evolution whereappropriate.
* Fault finding and performance issues support tooperational support teams, leveraging available tooling.
* Solution design impact assessment in terms of risk, capacityand cost impact, inc. estimation of project change and ongoing runcosts.
* Development of the requisite architecture inputsrequired to comply with the banks governance processes, includingdesign artefacts required for architecture, privacy, security andrecords management governance processes.
* Consult on complexissues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolutionof escalated issues.
* Identify ways to mitigate risk anddeveloping new policies/procedures in support of the control andgovernance agenda.
* Take ownership for managing risk andstrengthening controls in relation to the work done.
* Performwork that is closely related to that of other areas, which requiresunderstanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to theachievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
* Collaborate with other areas of work, for business alignedsupport areas to keep up to speed with business activity and thebusiness strategy.
* Engage in complex analysis of data frommultiple sources of information, internal and external sources such asprocedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).tosolve problems creatively and effectively.
* Communicatecomplex information. 'Complex' information could includesensitive information or information that is difficult to communicatebecause of its content or its audience.
* Influence or convincestakeholders to achieve outcomes.
