Job summary An exiting opportunity has arisen in cancer services to cover a one year maternity leave. Somerset Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Team Manager to oversee a team of Faster Diagnosis Administrators, Administrative Assistants, and Cancer Pathway Navigators. As part of the national Objectives in earlier diagnosis of cancer, the Faster Diagnosis service aims to ensure that that patients who present through the suspected cancer pathway. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the timely management of Suspected Cancer referrals through the Somerset Cancer Front Door, focusing on meeting Cancer Waiting Time (CWT) targets and the 28 day Faster Diagnosis Standard. This opportunity can be offered as a secondment or on a fixed term contract. Main duties of the job To manage a team of Faster Diagnosis Administrators and Faster Diagnosis Administrative Assistants and professional responsibility for the Cancer Pathway Navigators, to ensure that the following is met Proactive management of Suspected Cancer referrals through the single Somerset Cancer Front Door, in line with the Cancer Waiting Time targets. Ensuring equity of service across the county, establishing adequate clinic availability in order to meet targets laid out in pre-determined Timed Pathways. Tracking methods are adopted to ensure patients at risk of breaching are escalated There is robust validation of the Faster Diagnosis performance data inline with CWT submissions All of the team are robustly fully trained with signed competencies All of the team have a manageable workload to perform their roles effectively There is effective communication with cancer service colleagues to manage effective relationships. To support the Cancer Management Team to ensure data and waiting times are reported accurately. To take any corrective action necessary to ensure data collection and management is robust, reflecting this in training and/or team management. To work with the Cancer Management Team to manage the monitoring of the 28 Day Faster Diagnosis standard, leading on the operational management of the 28 day standard. There is an expectation to work at both Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital, and it will require onsite working (weekly) as well as remote working.
