Job Summary:
The Paint Line Operative is responsible for the efficient operation of the automated or manual paint line in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all products are coated to the highest quality standards while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and efficiency throughout the production process. The Paint Line Operative will work with various surface treatments, coatings, and materials, adhering to strict production schedules and quality control procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate Paint Line Machinery: Set up, monitor, and adjust paint line equipment to ensure proper operation and optimal performance during production runs.
2. Prepare Materials for Painting: Inspect and prepare parts and components for coating, including cleaning, masking, and loading items onto the paint line.
3. Paint Application: Ensure even and consistent paint application by monitoring paint thickness, curing temperatures, and process flow on all parts as they progress through the line.
4. Quality Control: Conduct visual and manual inspections of finished products for defects or inconsistencies in paint coverage, adhesion, colour, and finish.
5. Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and adjustments to paint line machinery and spray booths, ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
6. Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow all health and safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and safe operation of machinery.
7. Inventory Management: Monitor paint supplies, chemicals, and other materials used in the painting process, and communicate needs for replenishment in a timely manner.
8. Record Keeping: Accurately log production data, including job numbers, batch information, and any paint-related issues, into the system.
9. Troubleshooting: Identify and address any operational issues with the paint line, escalating problems to the supervisor as needed.
10. Collaboration: Work closely with other production team members to meet production targets, ensuring timely completion of work orders.

1. Attention to Detail: Ability to identify imperfections or inconsistencies in coating applications and take corrective actions when necessary.
2. Mechanical Aptitude: Familiarity with machinery and equipment in a paint line environment and the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments.
3. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry heavy objects for extended periods in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
4. Time Management: Effective time management to meet production deadlines and maintain workflow.

6. Safety-Oriented: Strong understanding of and commitment to health and safety protocols in an industrial setting.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a manufacturing, paint shop, or coating environment is preferred.
2. Familiarity with various coatings, paints, and finishing processes.
3. Basic understanding of quality control procedures.
4. High school diploma or equivalent.
5. Forklift or material handling experience is a plus (if applicable).
Working Conditions:
1. Exposure to paint, chemicals, and fumes; proper PPE will be provided.
2. Requires standing and walking for long periods.
